For comparative reasons, please keep in mind that the United States population is 40% people of color and 60% white. Additionally, the United States population is 51% women and 49% men.
Uber Technologies not only offers ride-share services as Uber, but also food delivery services as Uber Eats. In late 2020, the company also completed a merger with Postmates, another popular food deliver app in the United States.
The parent company has approximately 14% more people of color in its leadership team in comparison to the general US population. This means there are roughly 54% people of color versus 46% white people. Our data also indicates that while 15% of the gender data was unknown, at least 54% of Uber’s leadership team are men.
Doordash, another popular food delivery app in the US, is not far behind Uber in terms of representing people of color on their leadership team. With approximately 44% people of color, Doordash has about 4% POC representation in comparison to the general population.
That said, Doordash is male-dominated in its leadership team. Over 80% of their executive members are men, the most disproportionate gender ratio out of the top food delivery companies.
While data on Grubhub’s leadership team has not yet been analyzed by balance, the food delivery marketplace’s website shows that none of the members of their leadership team are people of color – and only three out of nine are women.
With food delivery demands skyrocketing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry experienced record sales and surges in both customers and individuals applying to work for the companies.
Sourced from balance and other trusted sites, these statistics show us that roughly 46-100% of leadership in top food delivery services are white people, and roughly 54-83% are men.
